An ostentatious habit of some upper class members of medieval society was to insist that they are carried in a litter or sedan chair everywhere they go. Several of these lords and ladies found that even once living in modern times their desire to be carried remained. Seeking to profit from these wealthy folk’s gripes, a cutting edge robotics company designed the self-propelled sedan chair, A vehicle of the grandest extravagance. Equipped with multiple machine-vision cameras and an array of microphones for listening to spoken commands, the chair is fully capable of carrying its occupant wherever they fancy without them having to learn any of the complexities of modern technology. Practically, the chair is little more than an expensive convenience, but it is also a powerful status symbol.
